Pin-on-disk Friction and Wear
Testing Stations

The pin-on-disk machine is one of the most common types of laboratory friction and wear testers. Our tribology laboratory has three custom-designed test units that are available for use by our guest researchers. Our standard 'pin' specimen is a fixed bearing ball which slides on its tip in a circular track on a disk specimen. Other tips of pin specimens can be tested as well. Our machines have controlled atmosphere capabilities to facilitate special types of environmental-effects studies.
