Education:

  • Associate of Engineering Technology degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology - 1984.

Research Responsibilities:

  • Conduct mechanical testing over a range of temperature and environmental conditions; testing in tensile, flexural, and compressive applied stresses
  • Data reduction and analysis of test results
  • Design and assembly of test frames including control software
  • Conduct analysis of test samples using scanning electron and optical microscopy

Honors and Awards:

  • A. Allen Award for best paper, Refractories Division, American Ceramic Society for paper entitled "Creep of CaO/SiO3 Containing MgO Refractories," 2001.
  • IGTI Ceramics Committee Best Paper Award for paper entitled "Creep Performance of Candidate SiC and Si3N4 Materials for Land-Based, Gas Turbine Engine Components" ASME Paper 96-GT-385, 1996.
  • Second Place Poster Award from Engineering Ceramics Division, American Ceramic Society for poster entitled "Examination of Oxidation and Creep Damage Evolution in HIPed Silicon Nitrides," 1994 .
