Scope of Research:

  • Investigated the effect of oxygen impurities, rare earth oxide dopants and processing temperature on the thermal conductivity of aluminum nitride.
  • Studied the effect of fiber type, loading, orientation and heat treatment temperature on the thermal conductivity of carbon-carbon composites.
  • Conducted studies on the effect of thermal aging on the thermal diffusivity and thermal conductivity of plasma sprayed zirconia thermal barrier coatings.
  • Develops automated instrumentation for the measurement of thermal transport properties.
  • Uses theoretical models to relate microstructure and processing conditions to the thermal conductivity of structural ceramics.
  • Maps Thermal Properties and Temperatures, and performs NDE using a high-speed, high-sensitivity infrared camera.

  • Measurement and modeling of the thermophysical properties of condensed matter.
