Scope of Research:

  • Constructed phase diagrams for functional ceramic systems by means of neutron and x-ray powder diffraction
  • Single crystal growth and solid state synthesis of powder samples of the Ba6-3xLn8+2xTi18O54 (Ln = La, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, and Gd) solid solution. Performed single crystal x-ray diffraction and powder (Rietveld) structural refinements and related structural elements (e.g., polyhedral tilting) to properties.

Recent User/Fellowship Projects:

  • High Temperature X-ray Characterization of Ti4AlN3, Ti3SiC2 and Ti2AlC (Drexel University)
  • High Temperature X-ray Diffraction Studies of Crystallite Size Effects in Ferroelectric Powders (Rutgers University)

Broad Fields of Endeavor:

  • Diffraction techniques, crystal structure, and phase equilibria and crystal chemistry.
