Background

High aspect ratio AlB2 platelets have been shown to effectively reinforce aluminum alloys. Knowledge of the thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity of these MMC materials are needed for evaluating their suitability for many potential applications.

Longitudinal (L) and Transverse (T) thermal diffusivity measurements show impact of the 20 vol% highly oriented platelets on the diffusivity.
