Steven D. Nunn received his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1991. His past experience in the field includes working at the Sandia National Laboratory in New Mexico and with General Electric Aircraft Engines.

His primary research interests are structural, protective and optical ceramics. Others research interests include armor, ceramic material processing, and ceramic material characterization.
