CFCC Composites Code - Property Prediction and Stress Analysis

The bulk of CLASS II - CFCC deals with property prediction and stress analysis (the remaining portion deals with damage modeling). As illustrated in the overview property prediction begins with an existing and/or user-input constituent (i.e., fiber, matrix, particle, etc.) database, from which description of the actual composite under consideration. Composite property predictions are performed for both laminated (2-D) and N-D (e.g., 3-D weaves and braids) composites. Once the full range of propeties for the composite have been computed, the user may apply thermo-mechanical loads and specify an appropriate failure criterion for a stress/strength analysis. finally, by utilizing the code's damage modeling capabilities, the user may obtain predictions for the composite's (currently, for uni-directional and cross-ply laminates only) non-linear stress-strain history.
