Research interests:

Friction and wear behavior of materials; design of friction and wear testing instruments; selection and development of friction and wear tests for specific applications; nature and significance of hardness of solids; understanding transient phenomena in friction and wear, like break-in and wear-in; standards for friction and wear testing.

Education:

    Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania

Research Experience:

  • Presently, task leader for tribology research in the Metals and Ceramics Division, Oak Ridge National Laboratory
  • 1986-87, served as acting Scientific Officer for the Office of Naval Research Tribology Program
  • 1979 – 1987, conducted tribology and microindentation research at the National Bureau of Standards (now NIST), Gaithersburg, Maryland
